Membrane separation equipment is molecular-level separation equipment based on microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, and reverse osmosis technologies. It involves no phase change and requires no additives, and is used for impurity removal, concentration, and desalination. We provide laboratory testing and process scale-up services.
Description
Product Overview
Membrane separation equipment uses pressure as the driving force and employs membranes with different pore sizes to achieve molecular-level separation, concentration, or desalination. Compared to traditional plate-and-frame and centrifugal processes, it is characterized by the absence of phase changes, the absence of additives, and high yield.
How It Works
The feed solution is pumped through a high-pressure pump to the membrane module (spiral-wound, hollow-fiber, or tubular membranes). Under cross-flow filtration: small molecules (water, salts, and small-molecule active ingredients) pass through the membrane to become the permeate; large molecules (proteins, colloids, and bacteria) are retained and recirculated back to the recirculation tank. Membrane pore sizes can be selected from microfiltration (MF), ultrafiltration (UF), nanofiltration (NF), and reverse osmosis (RO).
Main Structural Components
Feed Circulation Tank (with Heating/Cooling Jacket)
High-pressure plunger pump or centrifugal pump
Membrane housings and membrane elements (multiple units in parallel)
Heat Exchanger (Temperature Control)
Flow, Pressure, and Temperature Gauges
PLC Automatic Control System
CIP Cleaning System (Optional)
Core Strengths
High separation accuracy: MF 0.05–1 μm, UF 1–200 kDa, NF 100–1,000 Da, RO <100 Da.
No phase change, no additives: Operates at room temperature, does not damage heat-sensitive components, and requires no filter aids.
High yield: Target component retention rate >95%; the permeate is clear.
Low operating costs: The membrane elements have a service life of 1 to 3 years, and their flux can be restored after CIP cleaning.
Automation: Constant pressure, constant temperature, automatic backwash, data logging.
Typical Use Cases
Traditional Chinese Medicine Injectables: Ultrafiltration removes pyrogens and tannins while retaining the active ingredients.
Biological Fermentation: Separation of cells from the fermentation broth (microfiltration), protein concentration (ultrafiltration).
Food and Beverages: Juice clarification (ultrafiltration), whey protein concentration, and sterilization of alcoholic beverages.
Chemical Engineering: Catalyst recovery, solvent decolorization, and nanomaterial classification.
Environmental Protection: Emulsion wastewater treatment, reclaimed water reuse (reverse osmosis).
