Alcohol precipitation tanks are used for alcohol or water precipitation processes in traditional Chinese medicine extracts and fermentation broths. Their jacketed, low-temperature design protects heat-sensitive components, and the discharge port height is adjustable. They comply with GMP standards, and explosion-proof models are available as an option.
Description
Product Overview
Used in the alcohol precipitation (alcohol sedimentation) or water precipitation processes for materials such as traditional Chinese medicine extracts and food fermentation broths to separate active ingredients from impurities.
How It Works
This method exploits the difference in solubility between the target component and impurities in ethanol: When alcohol is added to the medicinal solution and adjusted to a set concentration (typically 50%–80%), impurities such as tannins, proteins, and polysaccharides flocculate and precipitate due to their decreased solubility. A cooling medium (an ethylene glycol-water solution or chilled water) is circulated through the jacket of the tank to maintain a low temperature (0–10°C), accelerating the settling of the flocculated material. The supernatant is drawn off through a height-adjustable discharge port, while the precipitate is discharged through the bottom discharge port.
Main Structural Components

Variable-Speed Mixing Device (Optional)
Discharge Outlet Rotation/Lifting Mechanism
Viewing Windows and Lights
Temperature and Level Sensors
CIP Cleaning Ball
Key Advantages and Features
Low-Temperature Alcohol Precipitation: The jacket can handle media ranging from -5°C to room temperature, protecting heat-sensitive active ingredients from degradation
Flexible adjustment of the discharge port: The discharge pipe can be adjusted vertically or rotated within a range of 0–500 mm inside the tank to accommodate different sediment layer heights.
Explosion-proof design: The motor and electrical controls are available in explosion-proof versions to meet safety requirements for environments where alcohol is present.
Easy slag removal: Conical bottom head + large-diameter sludge discharge valve, ensuring complete removal of sediment with no residue
GMP Compliance: Mirror-polished inner walls (Ra ≤ 0.4 μm), no blind spots, passivated welds
